How can digital tools help me manage my health information?
Having all your health information in one place can help you be in control of your and your loved one’s health and care. But keeping track of your medical records can be difficult if your health information is in multiple places, in various formats, such as paper, or if you see several doctors for your care. The Health Wizz app makes the job of organizing this information easier. It also provides tools to help you share information among doctors and other family members, so everyone is on the same page.
How can I access my health information/medical record?
Know your rights. It is your right under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to view and download copies of your health information to your Health Wizz mobile app. Your health information must be available online through your patient portal, a secure website through your doctor’s office or health system.
How do I get a username and password for patient portal?
Ask your health care providers. If they offer a patient portal, they will provide you with instructions for setting it up. There may be a couple of steps involved in setting up your account, including creating a secure password. This is to make sure only you have access to your health information. It is advisable to set up your account and then return to the Health Wizz app to start downloading your health records on your mobile device. Once your account is set up, you’ll be ready to conveniently access your health information andmedical records. Health Wizz also provides video tutorials that show you how to download and file your medical records in your PHR.
How does the Health Wizz app help me manage my health information?
The Health Wizz app is designed for your smartphone, tablet, or mobile device and can assist you with managing and organizing your health information. The app includes a digital file cabinet for your personal health record (PHR) which helps you maintain and manage your health information in a private, secure, and confidential environment.  A personal health record (PHR) is similar to the electronic health record (EHR) that your doctor might keep, except that you manage your information and control who has access to it. The Health Wizz App gives you the option of adding information to your PHR that you think is relevant but that your doctor may not have. It could be information about your over-the-counter medications, fitness, nutrition, sleep, and other health information you track. Additionally, it can also help you with making appointments.
What is a patient portal?
A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient, 24-hour access to personal health information from anywhere with an Internet connection. Your patient portal allows you to view and download your health information. You may have multiple patient portals for all the places where you receive care such as your primary care physician, a hospital, your specialists, your pharmacy, laboratories, and your insurance provider.
What if my Doctor’s office or hospital does not have a patient portal?
In the past, medical data was only stored on paper, making it difficult for your health care providers to share your information.
